The Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco is one of the most prestigious hotels in the city. It takes pride in the care and comfort of its guests. The refrigeration systems keep food cold or frozen.
These are critical components of the hotel’s food service and it is paramount that no system be taken out of service. With a view to becoming more energy efficient, the hotel engaged Power Knot to treat its refrigeration systems and air conditioning units.
The hotel asked Power Knot to treat its walk-in refrigerators, walk-in freezers, air conditioning units for the network room, and air conditioning units in the solaria of the executive suites. Power Knot treated all systems with its Synthetic Refrigerant Additive and measured increases in efficiency, increases in cooling, and colder air.
For the walk-in freezer, we saw an improvement of efficiency of 42%!
For the network room, we observed a reduction in temperature from 65°F to 60°F.
For one of the units in a solarium on the 16th floor, we measured a gain in cooling capacity of 27%.
The net effect is a great reduction in carbon footprint with a short payback.
